The biblical basis for Jesus’ humanity is something that can be clearly explained by the Synoptic Gospels. These gospels show Jesus’ human qualities and what he is subject to, such as hunger (Mark 2:15), anxiety (Mark 14:33), doubt (Mark 15:34), disappointment (Luke 2:40), and surprise (Luke 7:9). But elsewhere his true humanity is witnessed to, as if might be called in question or its significance neglected (Elwell). There have been many different ideas that describe who the man of Jesus really was. The complexity of this man is still debated today. Jesus’s humanity and his deity together make up the man he is. The statement of: “Jesus was a man and as such could not also be God.” Could not be more foolish. Jesus was a man that went through an earthly life just as we do today, and he did it sinless. This alone, in my opinion, shows how God himself was also the man of Jesus.
